A440 is an installation that consists of a cymbal that’s hammered into a square shape and a single-channel video. It parses questions about cultural production in light of material reconfigurations that characterize a digitized world. It challenges the change of meaning in formal transformations to explore processes of production as cultural, personal and political practices. It acts as a prototypical phenomenon of the emergence of dynamic encounters between the traditions of the past and the digital manipulations of the present. While addressing the relevance of form, labor, and materiality it deals with the cultural and material customs and standards.
