Yagmur Uyanik is a new media artist with backgrounds in architecture and music. Her work combines forms and visual elements using sound and light to extend the digital media to a point that it becomes a physical experience. Driven by spatial thinking, her aspiration is to rethink of the new aesthetic, technique and dynamic perception of space and produce new spatial sensations using technology as an artistic medium of expression. Her work is centered around creating a range of sculptural forms and interactive installations to explore space in physical and virtual environments. She is interested in the tension between real and synthesized and the creation of phenomena that transcend the physical, which encompasses the output of various disciplines.
Uyanik has received her Master’s degree in Art & Technology from San Francisco Art Institute as a Fulbright scholar. Her work was shown at galleries, museums and festivals around the world including Ars Electronica Linz; Sonar D+ Barcelona; Signal Light Festival Prague; Geneva International Film Festival; Art Futura Rome; Exploratorium, California Academy of Sciences and Diego Rivera Gallery, San Francisco.
