echoic chamber

Echoic chamber is a site-specific installation that acts as an auditory interface between the street and the space. Using modular units that mimic the shape of the acoustic foam but being made of metal, it reverses the main functionality of soundproofing systems. Borrowing its title from the anechoic chamber, it sits on top of the gallery windows that open to the street and amplifies the sounds coming in while blocking the view, hence offering a transformation of the visual into the auditory.
